HONOLULU — Max Wittek threw for a career-best 272 yards Saturday night, and Hawaii pulled away in the second half to beat UC Davis 47-27.

HONOLULU — Max Wittek threw for a career-best 272 yards Saturday night, and Hawaii pulled away in the second half to beat UC Davis 47-27.

Wittek connected with Marcus Kemp five times for 119 yards and Devan Stubblefield six times for 108 yards — each with a touchdown catch. The former USC Trojans quarterback was 17 of 24 with no interceptions in his third start as a Rainbow Warrior as Hawaii (2-1) bounced back from its 38-0 loss to No. 1 Ohio State last Saturday.

Paul Harris carried eleven times for 147 yards, including a 95-yard TD in the third quarter. Melvin Davis added two touchdown runs.

UC Davis (0-3) led 10-6 with 1:56 left in the first half. But Hawaii scored four straight touchdowns and led 33-10 with 13:02 left in the game.
